You’ll be glad you visited and reminded yourself that relaxation and restoration is crucial for those of us always on the go. From budget-friendly to more extravagant options, we’ve catalogued several of the best spas in the Washington DC area that offer unique and quality treatments to take in. From massages to facials and beyond, here’s your guide to a number of the most popular and tranquil finds in the region.

Bliss Spa

Spend your day being blissful at the W Hotel’s Bliss Spa. The modern space is full-on glam and offers some of the most sought-after treatments around. The space is made up of four treatment rooms and a beauty boutique, all dressed in white and blue clouds, while cherry blossoms grace the walls. Among its most popular treatments is the Oxygen Facial, where clients are softly scrubbed down with lime and ginger salt scrubs to detox their entire face and neck. The facial is followed by a relaxing body massage. You’ll also be pleased to note that Bliss offers luxurious hot cream manis and pedis as well.

The Spa at Mandarin Oriental

This 10,000-square foot spa is an experience unto itself. The space includes a vitality pool, dry sauna, and amethyst crystal steam room, just for starters – and its interior will immediately put you in a Zen state of mind. Visitors can splurge on signature treatments such as the Oriental Harmony treatment where two therapists first soak your feet in a purifying foot bath while both therapists provide a warm scrub that soothes and replenishes as they continue to move onto your head. The treatment will leave you energized and uplifted. Another popular treatment is the Oriental Bamboo massage, where a combination of hands and bamboo is used to ease away tension and relieve stress.

King Spa

A massive Korean day spa complex filled with more treatments and activities than you can fit into a single day. Relax with a massage, facial, or swim in one of the myriad indoor or outdoor pools, then dry off in one of several themed rooms or saunas based on charcoal, crystal, mud, and more. If you’re planning on coming here, plan to spend the day: From areas that invite you to lay down on little pellets to solid gold saunas, there are many options to unwind. Added bonus: Book a treatment, and you’ll receive a free pass for entry the next time you’re in need of a rest and reprieve and want to stop by.

Petite Spa at the Jefferson

The Petite Spa is located in the historic Jefferson Hotel. The building was built in 1923 and boasts gorgeous furnishings and décor inspired by the decade. The quaint spa offers deep tissue and Swedish massages as well as its own signature treatments like the Monticello Aromatherapy Massage where massage oils are infused with organic plants and flowers. Another popular option includes its anti-aging Vinotherapy Massage, which incorporates Chardonnay and grape seed extract. (The massage was inspired by Thomas Jefferson’s admiration for wine.) The spa also uses organic products including Darphin, Olavie, and Sparitual.

Tusuva

Tusuva leans more towards skin care, from facials to peels, microdermabrasion, waxing, and tinting. One of its most popular treatments is its 24 Karat Gold Facial, a mask that contains 24 Karat gold flakes suspended in a collagen gel. The facial is preferred for normal to dry skin and helps with anti-aging, skin firmness, and muscle tone. Too busy to linger around for much of the day? Tusuva offers 30-minute massages for $50.

Aura Spa

Aura Spa has five locations in DC making it convenient to visit when you’re in need of some weekend pampering. The chain is well-known for its massages as well as the detox body cocktail, which helps cleanse the body of impurities and toxins in one wrap. After the wrap, participants receive a full-body polish with Baltic mud and are finished off with a hydrating aroma therapy detox blend, which reportedly leaves the body feeling lighter and rejuvenated. Aura also offers waxing, spray tanning, and eyelash extensions.

Four Seasons Hotel

The Four Seasons is known for its high-end and amazing spas around the world. Among the best spas in Washington DC, the venue at the Four Seasons Hotel in Georgetown offers some of the most luxurious spa treatments and pampering in town. Relax with a Swedish massage or an anti-gravity facelift facial to perk up those eyes and cheeks. The spa also offers seasonal specials like its summer awakening package or the sakura ritual treatment, which includes a massage with essential green tea oils and a-hand-or-foot paraffin. Afterwards, you can sip on Japanese antioxidant green tea while you sit by the spa’s relaxing pool surrounded by beautiful paintings of Japanese cherry blossoms – needless to say, it’s a little slice of heaven right in the nation’s capital.
